How long does an outgoing wire transfer take?

When calling to complete a wire transfer, expect the call to take 20-30 minutes due to the need for additional verification and attention to detail. After your request is submitted, allow 3-5 hours for the receiving institution to process the funds. The exact time may vary based on the time of day, day of the week, and other factors.

What do I need to send a wire?

Please be prepared with the following information:

  • Financial Institution Name
  • Financial Institution Address
  • Financial Institution Wire Routing Number
  • Wire Recipient/Beneficiary Account Number
  • Wire Recipient/Beneficiary Name
  • Wire Recipient/Beneficiary Address

Under certain circumstances, you may be asked for additional information which will be addressed on the initial wire call. It’s important that the wire instructions are received from a trustworthy source and are accurate. Once a wire transfer is processed, it cannot typically be recalled.

Wire cut-off time:

Any wire request received after 1:30pm Central Standard Time is subject to being processed the following business day. Wire transfers may only be processed on business days.

Additional information:

  • Outgoing wires have a $25 service charge.
  • Additional verification questions are asked to protect our members.
  • Ensure you have access to an internet-connected device. If you have not sent a wire over the phone or your contact information is out of date, you may need it for additional verification purposes.

Sending a wire to GreenState Credit Union / Receiving a Wire

Your GreenState account can receive domestic wires. GreenState charges a fee of $10.00 to receive a wire. The sending bank and any intermediary banks will typically charge a fee as well.

When will I receive my wire?

Domestic wires take 1-2 business days, depending on when the wire is sent. 

The wire will typically post to your account the day it's received and processed (wires are only received and processed on business days). Wires can post throughout the day, generally between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
